Raku Obvara
A Raku Obvara course with Valeria Tonella. Raku Obvara traces its origins to the Baltic ceramic tradition, although there is no total certainty. It is the most 'natural' raku technique, as it does not use glazes, but a fermented mixture of yeasts and flour to decorate the artifacts. Thanks to different mixtures and application techniques, original and not always predictable colors and patterns are obtained. Participants will create objects using slab, pinch, or coil techniques, simple or with special textures (e.g., bark), thrown objects like vases and bottles, with simple, craquelé, or glossy finishes. The course is reserved for members; autonomy in creating pieces is required. A minimum of 5 participants is needed. The cost is 90€, which includes materials and the firing of a maximum of 5/6 artifacts. The first session is on Monday, May 18th, from 20:30 to 23:00 in the laboratory to discover the technique, analyze objects, and prepare the first artifacts. The second session is on Saturday, June 13th, for the Raku firing (morning or afternoon).
